Launched July 2024!
We are a new lab interested in understanding the
molecular players that establish & regulate diverse cell types in vertebrate development,
particularly of the brain.
Find out how to join us here.
Our What
We are a basic science lab interested in understanding how genes shape brain development.
We aim to understand cell type-specific gene regulatory logic, and to uncover novel molecular players that have evolved to regulate vertebrate cell specification and specialization.
Our How
We are mostly a developmental, cell, and molecular biology lab. We use genome engineering, single-cell technologies, behavioral analyses, confocal imaging, and genomics using the vertebrate zebrafish (Danio rerio) system and other models for evolutionary studies.
Our Why
Our work is driven by curiosity, teamwork, fun, and a desire to understand how networks of genes regulate brain and organismal development. This work can help us better understand basic mechanisms of what happens in human developmental disorders or diseases and can inform novel therapeutic strategies.
